Thanks, take77.

System restores are enough of a PITA that I'll wait a day or so and see if Avid Support can figure this out, but I'll try that if they can't. Good to have a plan B.

This issue is strange indeed.

I and a friend are both on Windows 10. I have full rights on my computer, his is administered by a remote IT department. I updated to 2024.3 a week ago. Following Avid's Windows advice, I always do a clean uninstall using Programs & Features. I also run CCleaner's Registry option until there are no issues reported. I have no problem with the font display in Pro Tools or any other program or app on my computer. (I do use Macrium Reflect to make an image before any update just in case.)

My friend's computer was updated by his IT department. They have never uninstalled Pro Tools before updating. Now not only are all the fonts in Pro Tools italicized, the fonts in his browser are different and, while any Word document looks fine on screen, when the document is printed, any and all the fonts in a document are in italics. (No image and no restore point to go back to.)

For those who have found a solution, either on your own or through Avid support, PLEASE, update this Thread.

Thanks for the info Bruce.

So that confirms it can happen happen going forward or backward in PT versions.
When I updated to 2024.3 upon it's release I uninstalled 2022.7 via Remove Programs as usual and installed the current version without any issues. FWIW I also kept my preferences.
When I went back to 2022.7 I uninstalled 2024.3 and reinstalled 2022.7 also without issue.
This is after the italics ordeal a couple months back.
I restored everything the same night it happened and haven't had any italics issues since then.

It was when I went back to 2022.7 from 2023.12.1 (after uninstalling via Remove Programs) that the italics issue happened to me.
Looks like the issue with the OP and your friend happened when updating and and to me when going back to a previous version.
In my case, both Windows and my browser (Firefox) maintained a normal appearance amidst the changes to PT & Spectrasonics.

Was 2023.12.1 the previous version for those affected?

Well, I just did a system restore back to March 6th, which was a restore point (created automatically for a Windows update) before I'd updated to 2024.3. The previous version of Pro Tools in the restored image (can't recall the number, but I always stay current, so it was whatever version immediately preceded 2024.3.0) worked normally again, without the italics problem.

I reinstalled 2024.3 again, through Avid Link, and now the issue is back.

This is really getting annoying. I have a ticket open with Avid Support on this, but they haven't responded for a couple of days now. Will repost here anything I learn from them.

Has anyone tried a Repair Install?

mtpollack, did you uninstall Pro Tools first as Avid recommends? And I wouldn't use Avid Link for any download of Pro Tools. Most users just uninstall Avid Link right after a new Pro Tools install.

I just edited my previous comments.
I meant to say that 2023.12.1 was the version I uninstalled before experiencing the italics issue after going back to 2022.7. Not 2023.12.
The installation of 2023.12.1 was fine and it makes me wonder if the UN-installation of that version is altering things on a few people's systems?
Obviously not everyone's or we would hear more reports.

To briefly recap, there were no issues going from 2022.7 to 2024.3 (and back to 2022.7) since restoring the system to the day before the italics issue happened.

Didn't mean to overlook your question.

If the system restore to the day before hadn't worked, I might have had to do that next.

Since the OP restored to a time of having "the latest before 2024.3" which we'll assume is 2023.12.1 (if he updated twice) he might be stuck in limbo and have to resort to the Windows repair install/refresh after uninstalling 2023.12.1 and before installing 2024.3 again.
That's *if* the 2023.12.1 uninstaller is the culprit.

Can't remember if I updated from 2023.12 or 2023.12.1. Pretty sure my friend would have been updated from a PT version (well) before 2023.12.

It appears something in the install is corrupting something in Windows, but not for everyone on Windows who updated.

That's possible as there are a few rare bugs that have only affected certain Windows/Graphics systems like the Clip FX GUI freeze (still get this in 2024.3 until I float or resize the window) and in 2023 some were not able drag clips onto a track from the clip list (now fixed in 2024.3). I didn't experience that one but just an example of how only a few Windows systems might be affected.

Thanks for confirming that it can still happen when updating from other versions. That makes sense because for some it happened when updating PT and for me it happened after rolling back. Maybe because of being a couple years difference in versions.

I still can't recall if an uninvited Windows update underhandedly made a change during the ol' switcheroo.
Whatever happened, it affected Spectrasonics too.
A corrupted font somehow which I read can result in all italics.

So maybe running Windows system file checker tool is another option that one might try before resorting to a restore or repair/refresh.

I just took the latest Windows 10 update before updating to 2024.3. No issues with italics.

Same here.
But can't recall if there was one a couple months back in the midst of going between PT versions.
The italics issue for me occurred sometime before the 2024 release.
