New omni weird sound

I got my new Omni interface , and overall it seems like A huge upgrade from my 96 and apogee combo.... Only problem is - when I turn it on a weird siren sound comes out of the ALT monitors which are connected thru analog 7-8 out... It takes 5 seconds and the pitch of the siren goes down until it disappears... Anyone ever expirianced such a thing , does it mean that there is somthing wrong the unit? Or it is like a strange startup noise.... It is pretty loud.....

Sounds like a leaky capacitor to me. You should probably send it back and get a replacement. Just my two cents

Well it's not supposed to do that. But if you can live with it, then just keep it. Might eventually become an expensive problem though.

I had a output level problem with mine about 10 days after getting it. I'd bought it through Sweetwater so they gave me a loaner to use. No down time.

Use your ASC (AVID Support Code) or just get this returned for a replacement thru your retailer. I also use Sweetwater and Vintage King. Both have been helpful for replacements like the one you need.

The Omni should not do this. Ron knows his stuff!
