Default OSX 10.9 Update

Does anyone know the latest news, compatibility wise, between OSX 10.9 and PT 10.

I still haven't upgraded to 10.8 and am starting to need some of the features that the new osx has.

Cheers

If you already upgraded to 10.9 there is no other way than re-installing from empty hard drive.

You need to download 10.8 from App Store and burn the installer to 8GB USB stick (there are plenty of tutorials how to do that, just google). Then start from that memory card, use disk utility to empty the drive, and install.

EDIT:
Here's the link to mountain lion in case you haven't purchased it before 10.9 came out

I upgraded to Mavericks on another Hard Drive, and it works fine for me. I'm on a Mac 8 core from a few years ago. All my plugins are still ok also. I don't use midi so I can't speak to that. I just mix to video.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am on the latest version of PT 10.

Pro-tools-expert.com is reporting that "Pro Tools 11.1 is in final tests and we should expect OS X Mavericks compatibility for Mac users."

Yes this is what I wanted to hear. Decided to leave the upgrade but I just want a new OSX haha! Even still I do not want to make PT cry.

It is fascinating, to me, how Avid can involve complete attention to development of PT 11, meanwhile no one can upgrade their MAC OS. Unfortunately, registered owners of PT 10
(like me) are not given so much as email notification, warning against upgrade, at the risk of making ProTools inoperative. I share a Mac and my other user upgraded to Mavericks.
Now my investment in Pro Tools and the Mac it was designed for sit idle. When, exactly, do you expect to fix this glitch? I don't want to fiddle with going back and forth between mountain lion and mavericks. I just want to be able to use my $800 PT software and interface on a state of the art apple operating system. I understand PT11 doesn't work on it either? You people's priorities and planning appear somewhat "Cart before the horse," to me"!

Kind of like a new car - once it leaves the lot it's not new - nor state of the art.

Honestly I don't understand the craving for the faithful to have the latest o/s release-

I'm mean if it was like a windows every year major changes yeah then I understand but all these apple releases are minor upgrades to the o/s - I guess it's all about which one is important

- PT stability or seeing 10.9.1 on your about this Mac

YYR 123; your reply reflects Avid's attitude, demonstrated in the release of yet another version of Pro Tools without putting patches in place which will ensure successful operation of their products regardless of OS. The attitude you echo in your reply to my post is : "We don't understand what is important to you. We don't know and we don't care. One day we may fix the problem. Meanwhile, screw you and your preferences."
Thanks so much for your opinion. You certainly are entitled to it.
