Optical Preamps inputs for DIGI 002 in stand alone mode?

Is it possible to use the optical input on the DIGI 002 for more mic preamps when you are in standalone mode for stereo inputs 5&6. I've played with the wordclock settings, but nothing seems to work. Any help?

Inputs 5-6 don't having any relevance optical so no if I'm reading u correctly...

And what wordclock settings are you referring to? The 002 has no wordclock ports.

I think he's asking if he can hook an external stereo pre to the 002, in stand alone mode, via the SPDIF input. Assuming that it would route to inputs 5-6. I believe the answer is no. I think you get the 8 analog inputs and that is it. If your pre has analog outs you could plug those into two of the analog inputs. Yep just checked with my 002. Looks like you get the 8 analogs and that is it.

In Stand-alone mode, you can set Inputs 5–6 to
accept S/PDIF digital input instead of analog input.
When Inputs 5–6 are set to S/PDIF, the 1/4-inch
analog connectors for Inputs 5–6 (on the back
panel of Digi 002) are inactive.
To set Inputs 5–6 to S/PDIF digital input:

In Stand-alone mode, press the Utility (F1)

switch.

Press the illuminated Channel Select switch

under Pref.

Press the illuminated Channel Select switch

under In56 (Inputs 5–6).

Press the illuminated Channel Select switch

repeatedly to toggle Inputs 5–6 to Analog or

S/PDIF.

Press the Escape (Esc) switch to exit Input 5–6

preferences.

Press the far right-hand Channel Select switch

to save the preference settings.

Press the Escape (Esc) switch twice to exit Utility
mode.

I wasn't aware of this particular feature. So I think the answer is yes.

The other posssibility is that he has a 003 with wordclock but no stand alone mode.

I just bought a Presonus Digimax D8 preamp and an Ultralink fiber optic cable, it should be delivered today. I can't wait to try it. We needed it for enough channels to cover drums and tracking a full band along with our outboard preamps and the 4 002 preamps.
