Default underflow 6085 error while recording, PT express 10,

System Details
Windows 7 64-bit (Intel Core Duo CPU 2.50GHz)
RAM: 4GB
mbox mini 3G (USB)
Pro tools express 10.3.4

Session parameters
Audio file type: bwf .wav
Bit depth: 24
Sample rate: 44.1
I/O settings: stereo mix
2 mono audio tracks in samples: guitar and vocals

Not using any plugins at the moment.

Hi,

I've read several threads on this error but can't find anything that solves the problem. I'm new to recording with PT, but I'm experienced recording analog.

Recording through both channels on an Mbox mini 3G via USB (no firewire).

About 1-2 minutes while recording 2 tracks, I get the following error:

The audio device buffer underflowed. If this occurs frequently, try decreasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine panel or remove devices from the audio firewire bus. (-6085)

I'm not using any plugins.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated...

All the best,

wolfix

Hi again...

I got this error to stop after the following:

1) turned off antivirus
2) turned off wifi
3) turned off all hard-drive backups and remote syncs like Google Drive.

Now, during playback of the two tracks I recorded, I'm getting the following:

DAE can't get audio from the drives(s) fast enough... (-9073)

Try doing all the Avid Optimizations. See the Help Us Help You thread above. If still no joy - or other issues - post a Sandra Report as per the thread.

Cheers,

Are you sure your hard drives meet the minimum spec's for Pro tools? 7,200 Rpm, no "green " drives. Are you recording audio to a separate (from the system drive) internal drive? With only 2 tracks of audio, you shouldn't be getting these error messages. Once you start using plugins and add more tracks, unless your system is optimized as The Weed suggested, I fear you may have problems again. The Core2 Duo is a bit underpowered for Pro Tools, but I successfully used one for a while.

Default Re: underflow 6085 error while recording, PT express 10,

the "Help us help you..." page solved all errors.

I also created a separate user designated only for pro tools, and moved all recordings to a usb external hard drive with an rpm of 7200.

Loaded up reverb, compressors and eq and all is well!

Thanks!
