Default PCIe or PCIx

I'm looking into buying a used G5 from someone... how would I tell them how to indentify whether it has PCIe or PCIx?

Compare the specs at www.everymac.com

Quite useful.

Specifically only the LATE 2005 models have PCIe.

They are: Dual Core 2.0Ghz, Dual Core 2.3Ghz, and 2 x Dual Core 2.5Ghz which is commonly referred to as the Quad Core.

Note the "Dual Core" means that one processor chip has two cores, rather than the earlier Dual Processor models which had two separate processor chips.

Alternatively get the seller to take some photos of the slots.

The fact that the video card has ADC outputs on it - it must be PCIx.

The late 2005 Powermac G5s only had DVI, unless the graphics card has been changed at some point.

90% certain you'll be fine.
