002r multiple out problems
Hello all,
Good day. I hope I can bug you with some output problems with my 002r. Here's my scenario: I have a headphone amp with a stereo input. It also has 6 headphone outs that EACH has an AUX IN. I thought, man! perfect... Analog Out 1-2 to Headphone amp's stereo input (whole band mix) Analog 3 to Headphone 1 AUX IN (drums) Analog 4 to Headphone 2 AUX IN (guitar) Analog 5 to Headphone 3 AUX IN (vocals) ... etc The idea is to hear the whole band's mix and boost each individual instrument/track on the headphone amp. But this isn't working. Here's what I have setup in ProTools LE 7.3.1: Vocal Track: From the track's OUTPUT, I selected Analog 1-2 (for the whole band mix) AND Analog 5 (Output would be going to a dedicated AUX IN on the headphone amp). In theory, in my headphone amp, I should be able to listen to the whole band mix (Analog 1-2) and the individual Vocal track (Analog 5). This isn't working, PTLE *only* outputs either to Analog 1-2 or Analog 5 NOT BOTH. It should, right? but it does not. My wiring is correct (I think) as when I only route to Analog 1-2 I can hear it OR route to Analog 5 I CAN also hear it. But once I output it to BOTH, I can only hear Analog 1-2 (whole band mix) Funny thing is, when I go playback an already recorded track, all of a sudden, the outputs for BOTH are working!! Which isn't very helpful as I needed this functionality WHILE tracking not AFTER Can anyone give me some insight to my problem? Alternative solution is also welcome. Thanks and Regards, cyclonae |

Re: 002r multiple out problems
Use the inserts area to route to additional outputs.

Re: 002r multiple out problems
Thank you SS.
But it isn't quite clear yet to me...pardon me... Let me re-phrase my question: When in "record" mode, how do I setup different headphone mixes for different musicians? For simplicity, a sample scenario: Track 1 (Guitar): Output: Analog 1-2 Track 2 (Main Vocal): Output: Analog 1-2 Track 3 (Backup Vocal): Output: Analog 1-2 From this setup, when in "record" mode I can hear all the tracks coming into my headphone amp (I have connected Analog outs 1-2 to my headphone amp's inputs) However, suppose Backup Vocal want to hear more of himself and less of the overall mix in RECORD MODE/during tracking. How would I do this? Initially, I thought, "ok. let me Output to Analog 1-2 AND Analog 3, plug Analog 3 Out from 002r to Aux IN in one of the headphone's Aux IN. That way, I have control on the Main Mix and Aux IN(Analog 3 which is Backup Vocal)" But it doesn't work. I suppose I'm not doing it correctly? If so, then back to my original question, how do you setup different headphone mixes for different musicians in "RECORD" mode. Sorry, if I have missed this in other threads. Thanks a lot for your time and help. Regards, Cyclonae |

Re: 002r multiple out problems
Check your Low Latency Monitoring and make sure it is turned off.
With it on I don't think it will allow you to use aux sends. hope this helps Len

Re: 002r multiple out problems
Hi Len,
Thanks a lot. You've nailed it! right on the money. How did you know? I went back to my Digi 002r guide and it didn't say anything about Low Latency Monitoring would disable Aux Sends. Is this something you've discovered or am I missing some sort of a manual ( hopefully I won't have to read the 700 pages or so of the Digi reference guide) Thanks again, Cyclonae PS. Both my method and SS's method works by disabling Low Latency Monitoring |

Re: 002r multiple out problems
Glad I could help. I think I ran into the same problem on my old system and had to use external verb. As for where I got the info I think it was on the duc.
