Re: quattro...
quote: You asked the question I joined the forum to get the answer for, namely, does the Quattro work with PTF. At four bills less than the Tascam it would be ideal for my modest requirements. So what does "Bump" mean? Yes? No? I'm dying to know. Looking forward to the skinny. Thanks.

Re: quattro...

Re: quattro...
don't count on it. Is is sound manager compliant? find out first. you'll only be able to use 2 inputs and 2 outputs if it works at all.

Re: quattro...
according to the quattro manual (i just read it), it IS soundmanager-compliant (of course, only two simeultaneous channels, 44.1k, 16bit only)
gonna get one...

Re: quattro...
Dear FKing-
I read where it's compliant as well, and for me (VO with a couple of FX trax) 2 in and 2 out is plenty, to avoid the noise and hassle of the 1/8" jack. I can't buy anything for a couple of weeks, so do post your experiences with the gadget. Hate to use you as a guinea pig, but I'm anticipating no problems anyway. Carry on!

Re: quattro...
Just because it's soundmanager compliant doesn't mean that it will work with PTF. I own an emagic USB interface with soundmanager drivers that works with Soft Sample cell, Reason, Unity, NI spektral delay etc... but DOES NOT work with PTF. You get -9128 error messages - CPU overload, whenever I try to play audio. Very similar to alot of other USB audio experiences with PTF. The only current success stories are the Griffin iMic and the Tascam US-428. Make sure you can try it with PTF before you buy, you may end up with an unpleasant surprise.

Re: quattro...
I HAVE 1.3.3 and my emagic USB interface still doesn't work with PTF. Its not that it wont pass audio to and from protools, its that PTF keeps spitting out these 9128 messages - out of CPU. The thing is, it isn't out of CPU. I personally think that its an intentional crippling of PTF to prevent it from working with USB audio interfaces. Maybe its just a conflict, but it does not work. I'll try 1.4.3 (which is downloadable and included in OS 9.2.1), and report back.
All I am saying is DON'T assume if it says "soundmanager" that it will work with PTF. |

Re: quattro...
Frank, in another thread in this very forum,
success was reported with the roland ua-30 after updating an apple audio extension (there is also a link to download it in that thread). People with quattros, etc. please try this and report back here. The thread is: http://duc. digidesign.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=35&t=000547 |
