Default PT 2019 Mojave macPro 5,1

The system requirements for PT 2019.5/Mojave on a macPro 5,1 states that the MSI Radeon RX 560 video card is required.

I have another Apple/Mojave approved video card. SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition in my 5,1.

Is PT only going to work with one video card rather than all of the Metal cards Apple recommends for the 5,1 and Mojave?

2019.5 works very smoothly on Mojave with a Radeon HD 7970 for me.

Thanks. I bought that card specifically for Mojave and have been waiting for official PT support before upgrading. I was gonna be really annoyed if Avid wrote specifically for only one card on Apple's list.

I have a flashed 7950 in my 4,1 MacPro running Mojave and no problems (other than occasional -9173 & -6120 errors).

Is there any advantage in running 2019.5 under Mojave compared to Sierra? How is the gui running at larger than resolution than HD 1080p resolution? 2018.12 was laggy with graphics rendering and much slower/jerky scrolling, and generally less responsive with dialog boxes, etc than under sierra even with Radeon 560...

I have as per my sig A Mid 2010 6 core Westmere , in which I have a PCIe SSD boot drive installed.
I am looking at another Apple listed "third party compatible " card, the Sapphire 11265-05-20G Radeon Pulse RX 580 8GB GDDR5 Dual HDMI.
Has anyone installed this card in a machine like mine, or any 5.1 ?

Ok so I did a test - quick performance comparison between 2019.5 + Sierra and 2019.5 + Mojave (10.14.4). Sadly, i see a much worse plugin efficiency on a 3,46 dual xeon Mac Pro 5,1.

I prepared a test track with Equilibrium, Pro-MB, RxVoice Denoise, Aroma, and Space with a long 8 sec impulse. I can playback 17 of these tracks under Sierra reliably (cpu usage is about 1500% in activity monitor)
And even can lower the buffer to 64, which of course is not recommended on Xeons. From experience I know no matter which software you run, the minimum buffer to run these is 128, and 192 even better. And yes, that includes Reaper. (talking MacOS here) That's a hardware limitation, these cpu's were not designed for very low latency, as they were meant to be used with servers.

Under Mojave, I can run at most 11 of these. Cpu usage is similar (about 1500%).

I had video engine enabled at all times, using oldie but goodie Metric Halo 2882 FW interface.

So, if anyone was wondering like me, this is how it is. Do not get me wrong, i think 2019.5 is much better with Sierra, some Cpu optimizations seem to be there and non interrupted playback works most of the time on my system, it's just that the cpu optimizations with Mojave seem to be made for newer cpu's.

Curious if anyone can repeat the test with new hardware. TNM? :)
