Project crashing my computer

[kringe]

HI, So I am attempting to work on project(s) that were started on PT v.7, Digi 002, with my G5 Dual. I now am opening these projects on my new system: PT v. 8.0.3, iMac i7 2.8 quad, Digi 002. The system keeps crashing while just trying to move the cursor around in the project window.

Have you tried opening the session with all plugins disabled? Holding the SHIFT key while opening the session will do this. If the sessions works okay like this, then you have a bad plugin that either needs to be updated, or removed. You can Make a row of plugins active and save/close/re-open and see if you can narrow it down. For instance, for me, going to PT9, my old AutoTune 3 would cause an error message on the screen(and the message made no reference to AutoTune).

When I first got PT9 I had this problem. For about 2 weeks it drove me nuts.
Eventually it turned out that one particular hard drive was causing the problem.

I have no idea why - I'd used it trouble free for about 2 years withPT6.9 and PT8. Even when no files on the drive were being used in the session PT9 would crash if the drive was connected to the computer.

When I copied my files to a different drive and removed it from the system it has been running fine with no problems (except for a minor rewire glitch that I will put in another thread).

Might be worth trying.
