Remove Hissing DC MODERN OD?

Hi is there a way to remove the "hissing" in the DC MODERN OD head-amp plugin?
(Eleven Free)

I don't have this issue with other plugins, so I know it's not the interface or other things I have plugged in around the room. It seems to me that there is such a thing as too much reality in an effect. It sounds like I'm standing in front of a head and cab plugged into the same outlet as a refrigerator with overhead florescent lights that have bad ballasts or just a noisy old school head. The only recording I can think of you would make with such a plugin, would be a old school tape style recording. But then I would probably need a plugin that gives me pops and crackling as well. lol It's just not an impressive way to sell more plugins, if this is just a stock plugin in the program. pre-Thanks for any replies.

Try putting the mic off axis. In the Free version you don't have as many mic's to choose from and the SM57 is not a modern model, it's based of the Unidyne III IIRC, and it seems to produce more hiss on high-gain amps.

Never mind what I just wrote there, I just opened Eleven Free and realized you don't have access to mic position.

You can also turn down the gain and treble.

You can use an EQ and dial out somewhere between 4-6khz give or take. And/or use a Low-Pass to get rid of some hiss.

The amp, cab, and mic models are pretty much spot on in Eleven and the Eleven Rack, so you would process them just like you would a real recorded guitar tone.

One thing I like to do (with the full version) is Bypass the cab in Eleven and use Impulse Responses since with Eleven we are limited to only 2 positions for each mic.

I use an automated lo-pass filter for hissy guitar(or any instrument) tracks. I have the same complaint with the Waves JJP Signature bass plugin. It sounds great, but hisses like a mad snake!

Hiss is normal in a high gain amp chain - that's why noise gates were invented. 11 Free might not have one. Hiss removal isn't as easy as 60 cycle or 50 cycle mains hum. For hum you could notch filter the signal as a single 50 or 60 Hz won't completely get rid of the issue.

Thanks for the advice guys! I will definitely keep those ideas in mind in future recording. I did the "gain and treble adjustment" didn't seem to have an effect. I think the the plugin is just modeled too closely after an noisy old school head. I can see where this might fit a specific recording application. But for my purposes, it's just not an applicable nuance. 30 years ago I was doing everything humanly possible to get that kind of noise out of my recordings. Now it seems it's an option. lol

In trying to be accurate, amp sim developers often go a little too far. I have noticed that the amps in Eleven are a little noisier than those in most other brands.

The Eleven Free version does have the noise gate control built in.

Keep in mind that many real amps have the same problem. I supposed the most effective method would be to use a noise reduction plugin after it's been recorded.

High pass filtering will only help, and in a small way, mains hum. It won't help hiss. Low pass filtering might help but would also cut out the top end. Once you start playing the hiss becomes buried in the signal.
