digi 002r crackles and disconnects

OS X 10.4.10
2GHz Intel Core 2 duo

PT 7.1.1 with cs update
Digi 002R connected firewire
non-oxford usb2 drive has been working fine

Everything's going GREAT, sometimes for days, then a rush of campfire crackling and I've lost my connection with the 002r.

I trash the midi4744784??/ prefs, the coreMnager pref (when it's in there) the PT plist and the DAE prefs. I also jiggle the NEW power harness and turn everything off, reseat the fire wire connections, and re-start.

Sometime she comes back quickly, sometimes she don't.

Probably you are suffering from a faulty power-supply (design fault which Digi will fix for free). Just look in the post for 'power harness faillure' and you'll find out more. I ha d the exact same thing for a couple of months, which ended with a complete breakdown (only the mute-button lit and no way of connecting; a dead 002r that is).
So don't wait too long to get it fixed!

This was already done. It has a NEW power harness, but the problem persists.

I replaced the power harness in my Digi002 but still losing communication also(no crackle sound though).

I'm on my third harness so I'm thinking it may possibly be the firewire bridge :

For everyone:
The harness was replaced, I have both lights inside, so it's not the firewire bridge, and finally I upgraded fro 7.1.1 to 7.3 - then 7.3.1 - then did the cs4 update, trashed my preferences and the verdict is.........it connected, detected a firewire reset and then disconnected.

Anyone?

I have this exact same Problem you are experiencing, only difference is I use a Macbook Pro and PT 7.3.1cs4. The problem is now at the point where I cant run any sessions including some I made months ago and used without issues. My Pro Tools setup is completely useless right now. I have had the Power Harness replaced already, maybe the new one is bad as well. I replaced the Firewire cable and still problems. Signs are pointing to a hardware problem because both CPU Monitors (Apple and Pro Tools) read less than 40% system usage when my errors are coming. I have also tried EVERYTHING listed on this site from changing settings to trashing prefs to disc permissions and nothing will solve this problem. I got a response from Digi's tech support with suggestions for fix's I have already tried several times. I will be contacting their repair center tomorrow morning about sending it in for testing.
