I am talking post-production. I've no idea if this works for music production.

The other important point is that PT12 vanilla is useless for post, since it lacks a lot of the really powerful automation and editing functions. PT10 with CPTK has all of those, so is more useful to me than PT12 vanilla.
I did not misunderstand your post. I was trying to get across that you are going to have issues with using things that were never meant to work together. Using non-compatible s/w and operating systems is a recipe for disaster. I don't care if it's post or music production - you will have issues.

What you should have done was when Avid had the deal of swapping your PT10/CPTK bundle for PT11HD to have snapped that up; it was software only but then you wouldn't have the issues with at least Yosemite.

Like I said, there are no issues. Actually, it lacks one significant bug that I get in PT12, so I'm very happy with it. I never wanted HD for a home studio, so I never took up their offer. (Also, why did they time limit it?) I paid good money for PT10 not that long ago. Why should I have to ditch it and go up to HD just because the OS was upgraded? (I would have stayed with the old OS, but my old MacPro died and I saw no point in buying a replacement obsolete machine, so got a new one with Yosemite). Actually while I'm ranting, why do they sell a crippled version of their product, which is what vanilla is? Why not just charge a bit more and sell everyone the full-featured version? (End of rant).

PT10 on OSX10.10+ has the plugin menu display bug, which is bad if you use many plugins. Now that Logic Pro X 10.2.3 _requires_ OSX 10.10+, it will be a fun time (not) for everyone who owns both DAWs. In the middle of three PTHD10 projects that just won't end and my hands are tied.

Avid could start mending their customer relationship by releasing a service update to PTHD 10.3. Alas, they don't have the guts.

It might be different on different systems, but my experience of that bug is that if you run the mouse down the plugin dropdown menu, they all appear as normal. Annoying, but not fatal. Has anyone else had a different experience?

It is more than annoying and it is fatal, especially if your mouse slips off the little capture area and the insert menu disappears. Also especially if one works fast. It may not bother you and if you're willing to live with this flaw/incompatibility then that's your deal. There are others that won't put up with it and either backdate OSX or move on to a compatible version of PT.

Yeah I have that bug with the list too. Honestly I'm just dealing with it until I upgrade. It's quite annoying but you can still get the job done.

2 years later has that bug ever been acknowledged, or addressed ?, just wondering.

Way behind the times, and just Easter egg hunting while I'm trying to catch up. HA

Yes it's been acknowledged
No it won't be addressed as Avid has stopped all work/fixes on PT10 and PT11.

You want PT10 to work right? Don't use OSX 10.10.x, OSX 10.11.x (aka El Crapitan) or higher.

End.Of.Story.

If you don't need anything fancy the stock 5770/5870 works quite well. As long as you're not going to Mojave which requires a Metal-compatible card.

BTW PT10.3.1 runs just fine on OSX 10.9.5; the only thing is the PT uninstaller doesn't work but there are manual steps for that outlined on Avid's site. I ran that on my now-deceased iMac alongside PT11.3.2 until I needed to go to OSX 10.10.5 for some plugins I wanted to run then it was bye-bye PT10.
