An update:

So far I have installed:Strike, Structure LE, Transfuser, Ozone 4, Spectron, iZotope RZ, Hybrid and iZotope Vinyl.

All working perfectly (touches every bit of wood in sight)! Now if only M-Audio would get a driver for the Axiom Pro out...

Problem is...it's now 4am

Benoni - I have a USB Mbox 2 Mini.

I'll work on putting some info later. Right now it's bed for me!

Night all
Paul

ISSUE: I've clicked and right clicked "run as admin" but the same thing happens, it does something for a while and then PT never actually opens. I've pulled up the "Task Manager" and under the "Processes" TAB, it shows PT running but under the "Applications" TAB there is no sign of it.
When I keep opening it from the icon on the desktop or from the icon in the "Program Folder", a new protools.exe pulls up under the Processes TAB, Ive hit the icon 5 times and there are 5 protools.exe in the Processes TAB.

I am pulling my hair out here....is there anyone with the same issue or some answers to this??
Please Help!
Fredto1, could this be a IE8 issue??

PT LE 8 Windows 7

Agh, that kinda sucks but I appreciate the info. Now the question is can I just uninstall pro tools and re-start or do I have to do a fresh install of Win7?

Hoping for the later but if I gotta do the whole thing again to get it working I will.

Thanks.

Just a thought. I have Vista and PT 7.4 was running great. During one of my Windows upgrades, I loaded IE8. I then had the same problem you are having. Took a while to figure out what had happened. Removed IE8 and PT is back to working fine. I have to keep unchecking IE8 everytime Windows tries to update it.

Just a quick question about Win7 32bit. What is the incentive to run this OS right now if you have WinXP or Vista running fine? I can see tweaking around with Win 7 64 bit but the rest of the world doesn't really seem fully ready for it yet. I have Win 7 Pro 64bit on another drive that I swap into my PC when I want to try something out, but I'm basically learning the interface as it's a bit different than WinXP.

I looked at the MS Compatibility page and found that there seems to be pretty good hardware support for 64 bit drivers, however, even though most software is compatible it is 32 bit so it runs under x86. To me, the big deal is getting Win 7 64 bit with 64 bit hardware and software going.

BTW, you can probably stop right clicking to run things as Administrator if you find the xxxx.exe file you are trying to run and change it's security properties to allow anyone to run it (put a check mark in all of the permissions boxes). You may also need to do this to your session files.

I would also comment that anyone getting a new computer with Win 7 should be sure to get it with one of the Win 7 versions that support XP Mode (Pro or Ultimate). All of the hardware on new computers should support the virtual attributes necessary to run things in XP Mode.

As mentioned in as earlier post, please specify somewhere in your post whether you are running 32 or 64 bit Win 7 and whether your audio interface is USB or Firewire. These two points are paramount.

Can anyone answer my original question?

Thanks,
Greg

Yup Win7 64 Bit, fresh install.

I don't mind reinstalling the OS, nothing much on here but PT anyway.

Talking Re: The Official Unofficial Windows 7 Thread

Hi all

An update, as promised.

I have Win 7 (64) installed. PT8cs3 is working really nicely with all of the stock plugs and VIs.

I have also successfully installed Strike, Hybrid, Transfuser, Structure LE, RealStrat, Ozone 4, iZotope RX, Spectron and Melodyne Plugin.

Things that have not worked are Miroslav Philharmonik (7401 errors) and M-Tron Pro (Access Violation Errors). I'm not really that worried about these as they have had very limited use and I am sure that they will be sorted in the fullness of time.

My biggest disappointment is with m-audio. They have released public betas for most of their gear but still nothing for my Axiom Pro . In fact this won't even function as a basic keyboard so I'm going to have to grab my old Novation ReMOTE SL until drivers are released for the Axiom Pro.

So...even though I haven't had 100% sucess, I am really delighted. Just as a side issue - I haven't disabled anything (WiFi, Aero, Slideshow Wallpaper) and I have also played around with several other apps running too.

My System is:
Win 7 Home Premium (64)
Core 2 Quad (6600 @ 2.4ghz)
4GB Ram
2x500GB HDD
MBOX2 Mini (USB)
All Software paid for & legal

Good luck to all of the others on here trying out Windows 7!
Paul

I'm sorry but that is nonsense.

Running as Admin has nothing to do with hardware interrupts or the bus speed on the motherboard.

mmm..seems like I have been picking on your posts! Honestly its not intended,
I have a composition due in on Monday and I'm just diverging...

Has anyone got a Firewire interface running with 64 bit?

Is IE8 causeing you any problems? I see you have Hybrid and thats a plug that has known issues with IE8. I have never had any IE8 related trouble with any of my partitions.
I have it running on 64Bit. I have a 003R running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I have Pro Tools 8.01 installed. It blue screened when I just had 8.0, so make sure you update it.
