Default XP won't boot with 3 firewire devices attached?

I recently added an OWC FW drive as my recording drive. I also have a WD MyBook FW drive for storing music, samples, data etc, and I have a FW410 interface. The two drives both use power adapters, while the FW410 gets power from the FW bus.

For some reason, windows will not complete the boot process with all three attached. Has anyone seen this or know why?

My FW card has two ports, and no chaining variation seems to make a difference, as soon as all three are there, boot process sticks.

(update)
I tried with just the OWC Drive (Mercury Elite-AL Pro) and the FW410 connected and it doesn't boot.
I tried with just the WD drive and the FW410 connected it does boot.

Could the OWC drive somehow conflict the the FW410 during the boot process?

Also, with everything connected and powered on, I can reboot with no trouble.
