Default Does a NEW PTHD11 purchase include PTHD10?

Since I no longer have the option of the CPTK add-on, my only choice would be to buy PTHD.

If I buy it NOW, I will get PTHD10 with the complimentary upgrade to PT11HD, but if I wait and all that is available is PTHD11 will I also have the ability to download and install PTHD10?

I'm currently running PT10 so I have a bunch of plugins that would only work in a software that supports RTAS ... and there is no upgrade path from PT10 to PTHD11 ... unless you consider buying the CPTK now for $2K plus the upgrade at $1K which comes in at $2000 cheaper than buying HD Native w/Omni. BUT, I don't have $5K right now let alone $3K.

OR, can I pick up a CPTK license on eBay in a year for a cheap price and still have the option to upgrade to PT11HD for $999 and still get PT10&11HD iLok asset?

I got "Pro Tools HD 10 Bundle" iLok license this morning as follows.

Pro Tools HD 11 Bundle Avid Bundle
* Pro Tools 10 Avid License Never
* Pro Tools 11 Avid License Never
* Pro Tools HD 10 Avid License Never
* Pro Tools HD 11 Avid License Never

Even though, I upgraded from PTHD 9,
I think PTHD 11 iLok license should be the same,
otherwise Avid should get trouble when releasing PTHD12.

So my questions is, will PTHD11 always include PTHD10?

My understanding is yes. It will be like how PT9HD also included PT8HD, 10HD included 9HD... so you have the ability to transition from the previous version if you need to open old sessions or are having compatibility issues.

The CPTK to PT11HD upgrade will include the PT11HD and PT10HD license.

If you buy the regular PT10 license now it includes a free upgrade to the regular PT11 license when available.

If you were to buy some new Avid hardware now, you'd get the PT10HD license with a free upgrade to PT11HD when it's released.

Moving forward, all hardware will contain the PT11HD license only - this will of course all be dependent on when I where you buy the hardware - there's posts on here with some people still buying Avid gear with the PT9HD license!

Not true, it's an 11/10 bundle

I suspect that if you buy PT11 either version as a brand new item, not as an upgrade from PT10, after PT11 is released, then you might not get a bundle including a PT10 licence.

After all, as a new owner of PT11, you won't have any legacy PT10 projects or plugins that you still need to use.

I have 2 PT10 licences. The one that I upgraded from PT9 has a bundle licence including PT9 an 10.

However, the 2nd one, that I bought after PT10’s release, does not include a PT9 bundled licence as well.

I suggest that if you need to buy a new licence, rather than upgrade, AND you need a PT10 licence to use RTAS plugins, then you need to buy the new licence before PT11 is released. that way, you're buying PT10, with a free upgrade to PT11, and so when you upgrade you'll get a bundle of both licences.

Yes, actually just checking it; The current product for PT11 is actually PT10 with a free upgrade to PT11 when available. I can't find anything specifying the PT11 product when released will include PT10. So I guess that's another gap in the available PT11 information.

However, the OP stated HD so I guess it's a moot point for him anyway.

Not quite;

I think the whole point of allowing PT10 to be run with PT11 is because so many plugin manufacturers are not yet on board with AAX format which of course only PT11 uses. That means there are a lot of us who have a cr@p load of plugins that won't work in PT11.

If I'm correct, it explains the logic of the offer & perhaps how long it will be available for.
