Thinkin bout selling my Mbox Micro and...

Getting the crossgrade but im not quite sure if ill need the PT8LE installer discs after i sell my micro. I would imagine if i wanted to do a reinstall of PT9 a year down the line, the crossgrade discs would require my original PT8 discs that came with my MBox Micro therefore i wouldnt be able to reinstall unless i bought the full version. true?


can anyone clear this up? thanks

The crossgrade comes with a full installer too. No worries

ok cool, not that i dont believe you but can anyone else confirm this aswell.

i read that when people were installing the crossgrade they had to install "over" PT8LE for it to work

I confirm that i was able to download both the updater from PT8 and the full installer when I purchased the crossgrade

I installed PT9 full on a fresh format and OS.

When you purchase (at least the downloaded version in my case), you are given a choice of two installers to download. One is a full 5GB installer, the other is a ~1.5GB update. Your choice.

Also, to purchase the crossgrade you'll need an iLok, iLok account and the serial number off your hardware interface BEFORE you buy. And yes, I can confirm what the others have said about getting a full install to download.

in that case, wouldnt anyone be able to buy the crossgrade then as long as you have an ilok, as opposed to the full 500 dollar version? how does that work?

Not the serial number off the iLok... the serial number off the MBox. The serial can only be used once, so be sure to let your buyer know it's been used.

you NEED your micro to get the crossgrade price. AVID requires the serial number off it. after that, its worthless.

ok so essentially this is how it will go down,

ill go buy an Ilok, then buy (download) PT9 by entering serial number off of my Micro, then install PT9. Then sell my Micro (hopefully) and have full version of PT9 forever.

Correct? or do i have to transfer anything to the iLok from PT8 or PT9

Doesnt this mean that whoever i sell my Micro to will never be able to crossgrade to 9?
