Hardware / Software upgrade & Migration

In planning stage to upgrade to new iMac & PT subscription plan after years of stability running PT 11.3 on 2010 era Mac Pro v10.11.6

I have concerns about using APPLE migration assistant, or transferring files from backup for fear of unleashing unwanted/hidden boogens into a new environment. Any advice for a smooth transition is greatly appreciated. Maybe there’s already a blog or white paper on the forum someone could steer me towards...?
