Default Anybody using the Drawmer 1969 ?

Looking into getting one of these. I've read some good reviews of the 1969 Mercenary Edition. I need a dual channel pre/compressor, preferably tube. I print a lot of stereo tracks from synth modules that I want to apply compression to.

Anyone know something about this unit or have you used it? I don't hear a lot about the Drawmer stuff and it's supposed to be some good gear.

Thanks in advance.

Drawmer equipment is excellent! I used to own (16) channels of their gates years ago, absolutely the standard for gates! Their compressors and preamps don't have nearly the buzz they used to... I think that's becaus companies such as Manley and Avalon make such killer products as well. Personally, I don't care for the Drawmer preamps...but I do love their compressors. For the money, there really is nothing that competes with the 1969 considering that you're getting 2-ch of pro-level pre and 2-ch of compression without spending way more money. Will you get more for your money? Absolutely, but again WAY more.... I'd say go for it, it's a good box. Just because you don't hear much about it doesn't mean it's not a good piece of gear...

Brad,

Thanks for the reply. I'm curious what you don't like about Drawmer Pre amps. Could you describe the sound they give or compare them to another type of pre amp. I noticed in the Sweetwater catalog that the 1969 has an "improved dual mic input section". It also says it has a "silkier" sound.

Thanks.

Well, the same reason that I don't like chocolate ice cream... no rhyme or reason, just doesn't appeal to me. It's a great preamp though, just because I'm not a huge fan of it doesn't mean it isn't good.
