Antares AutoTune 4 Native + Old System = Slow Performance???
Hi Folks,
My setup: PowerMac G4 Dual 533 Mhz Digital Audio w/ 896 MB RAM. Pro Tools TDM 6.2.3 HD3 system (w/ 3 of the 96 i/o units) OS 10.3.2 DAE Buffer=8; CPU=70%. I have a line on an Antares AutoTune 4 Native (RTAS) plug-in package. I know technically I meet the specifications and requirements for it to run on my system, but do any of you know if it will run well on my system? I don't want to plunk down the dough for this, and then find it chokes my system up. I typically run from 16 to 32 tracks (or so) at 48K/24-bit. I do Sound Replacer and a Click track, but that's the limit of the plug-ins for now (I mix almost 100% OTB). Antares would be for vocal pitch correction only (so far), so I wouldn't have 20 instances of it running. My system is getting old enough now that when I go to purchase a plug-in, I have to make sure it'll run without my system choking and wheezing on it. I tried to run BFD and Groove Agent a while back, and I can't run them on my system because of them being so processor hungry. As always, thanks for any input, Chris |
