On opening MP 8.0.5

I"ve got an ASUS laptop, window 7 SP1, project mix i/o on the internal firewire & tow external 7200rpm firewires on a SIG card.. pfew... It seems when I initially open the program, it almost immediately flashes the screen, I see MP (Not Responding) and a little bit later, another flash, and I'm at the opening window asking what session I want to open.. Does this happen to any one else, and what did you do to fix it? Thanks
