Default PT12.8, DnxHD, Lagging....

Hello Guys,
I'm working on a web serie; of 4min each episode; I decided to Put 8 videos in one session cause it correspond to each Character...
I just got the deliveries in DnXHD (37.68Mbps) (~1gb per video)
Was working on the first video all was cool.
As soon as I imported the 7 others on the same track. I started having a 3sec lag before each action...
Do you a have a remedy for that?
Shouldn't DNxHD be my codec? cause I asked for it..

Thank you for your time and patience...

Hi,

DNxHD36 is good.
I suspect there is a difference between the video's (other codec, resolution, frame size ...)
When video's with different properties are on the same video track, Pro Tools starts lagging.
Try to put the video's on different video tracks (one on each track) and see if the lagging disappears or reappears with a certain video.
If so, and you need them on the same timeline, you can transcode them in Da Vinci Resolve (for .mxf video - free) or MPEG streamclip (for .mov - free) to video's with exactly the same properties.
(Oh... You do have the video's on a separate and fast enough hd, right?)
(Also check the video track output corresponds with the aspect ratio/frame rate. On mac - holding cmd gives you more options while clicking on the video track output)

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply and hints. I'll try it out next time the issue appears.
I transcoded to .mp4 (H264) And seems to work well now...
Video's are on an ssd. And there is no difference between them. It Just doesn't make sense to me... but hey... Sometimes **** have to happen.
And I Just learned that there is a difference in sync off set depending on the codec you use... We do learn every day!
Thank you for your time

@moderators you can close this threat born out panic. Thank you
