Default Motu 424 card and 2048 buffer size

When I choose the 2048 buffer size in my Motu PCI audio console for my 424 card I am told in Pro Tools when I open the playback engine drop down menu that I have an unsupported buffer size and to please choose from the supported buffer sizes (which include 2048).

I have Pro Tools 10.2 and Windows 7.

Any advise?

Use 1024 It may be that 2048 is only available with the higher sample rates(88.2 and 96K). My Pro Tools rig does not offer 2048 when I run a 44.1 or 48K session. Having said that, I would not expect a huge boost for the following reason. There was one version of PT(can't remember exactly but it was 7 or 8 dot something) that actually offered a buffer all the way up to 4096. I tested all buffers at the time and got zero boost with the higher setting(running the old Dverb2 test).

Are you changing the MOTU buffer in the hardware dropdown in PT as you should? Not directly in the MOTU console? You should not need to touch the Playback dropdown at all for this.
