Space Bar moves cursor
This just started happening, and I wonder if it's a setting that got changed, or some glitch in my setup. Normally, space bar starts and stops transport, but doesn't change the cursor start position. Now intermittently when I use space bar to stop, the cursor moves to the spot where playing stopped. And if I select a section, spacebar seems to unselect it.
Any ideas? Thanks. Mike

Re: Space Bar moves cursor
Hit the "N" key by mistake per chance?
It toggles "Insertion Follows Playback" and there is a "button" for same under the Supertool.

Re: Space Bar moves cursor
Changing the value of Play Start Marker Follows Timeline Selection (toggle N key) didn't make a difference - I enabled and disabled this and it didn't change the behavior.
To recap: I position the cursor, hit play, and then regardless of whether I hit spacebar or the stop button, the cursor moves to the place where playback stopped. I swear I don't remember this happening before. Also, if I highlight a region, start playing that region and then hit stop/spacebar, the region selection disappears.

Re: Space Bar moves cursor
Hitting the 'N' key is not going to change this unless you have Keyboard Focus enabled. You need to go up to the Option menu and uncheck "insertion Follows Playback" Do a Google search or You Tube search for this feature in Pro Tools if you're not familiar with it.

Re: Space Bar moves cursor
My bad, I assumed most people have Commands Focus enabled, although I did also mention a "button" that toggles Insertion Follows Playback.

Re: Space Bar moves cursor
I found the setting that was causing the problem. Setup>Preferences>Operation
Timeline Insertion/Play Start Marker Follows Playback was checked. I unchecked this and the cursor stopped moving as described (which is what I wanted). I don't know what the keyboard shortcut for this is, or how I might have hit it...
