Re: Apogee AD-8000
The AD8000 is not a mic preamp, it is an 8 channel analog to digital converter (with optional D/A converter). Please visit Apogee's Web Site for more information.
In the opinion of many, this is one of the finest A/D converstion boxes in the industry. Many ProTools TDM users buy this box instead of the 888/24. While some might think it overkill for a 001 setup, I think it's a great way to get 8 channels of excellent audio into PTLE (or Logic, or DP, or anything for that matter) without going TDM. encephalon Lush Music |

Re: Apogee AD-8000
You may also want to do some research on the RME adi-8 pro. Its much cheaper and fairly comparable, from what I hear.

Re: Apogee AD-8000
We use 001 and an AD8000 with the ADAT card and the DIGI/8 card installed. It works wonderfully. We don't have to use a single converter or line input/output on the 001, so all of our projects come out sounding the best they possibly could. We even have a better chain than the studios I work at that with TDM systems that only use 888/24's. Also, when we upgrade to a TDM system, we already have an interface better than any digi interface. They are a bit pricey, buy apogee makes the best converters and has the most stable word clock on the market. Check it out at a retailer. HOLLA

Re: Apogee AD-8000
I was just about to purchase one, and I thought the whole time it had 8 ins, and 8 outs, but it is 8 ins only. I think you have an option for 2 outs for about 500.00, but I think I am going to go ahead and get the LUCID ADA 8824, Im also going to get a roseta, to hook up via S/PDF inputs, for a total of 18 inputs.
Just a note, outputs are important, because on the digital to analog conversion, you can monitor your audio cearly, and more accurately. Hope this helps chad |

Re: Apogee AD-8000
I have read allot of good things about the Apogee 2 Track. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, you can use the 2 Track with S/PDIF or purchase one of their ADAT expansion cards. The 2 Track also comes two pre-amps.
