Missing audio files: Automatically NEVER find and NEVER re-link?
Why does "Automatically find and re-link" fail 100% of the time when there are missing audio files?
Suppose I have a "Session 1" with a bunch of audio files and save it as "Session 2" and then in Session 2 simply re-name the audio files. When I try to open Session 1, it has no idea where the audio is. WTH. Shouldn't it at least look in the current Audio Files folder for unique IDs? What am I doing wrong? It's tedious manually re-linking dozens of audio files one by one.

Annoying it certainly is. If you want to succeed, narrow down your search to a specific folder and search by unique ID only. Then select all and commit all links in one fell swoop.

When I choose the automatic option and open the task manager to watch the progress, I notice it's searching every drive on my system. I have 4 5TB drives. Why doesn't Pro Tools FIRST look in the Audio Files folder where the session file lives and then move out to other hard drives if nothing is found there?

Hi, if you know where the files are but PT doesn’t, you can simple drag the audio files to the clip list (right side edit window).
If they are the same as the missing ones, then PT will recognize them... Much faster than relink ;-) Hope this helps, good luck, Daniel Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: Missing audio files: Automatically NEVER find and NEVER re-link?
Drives me nuts also. I just go looking for it myself. Too complicated for me. Cant seem to shut it off also. Keeps on coming up when I open the file.
