Does Pro Tools 12 Student New Purchase or Subscription Come With 10 and 11 licencsesb

Hi,

My first post in a while, seeing as I've committed to wean myself off Avid given my disdain for Avid's new direction ;-)

However, a friend's student son is interested in getting into Pro Tools.

Question is … does a new student purchase of Pro Tools 12 include Pro Tools 10 and 11 licenses in the same way that upgrades do?

Also, does a student subscription to Pro Tools 12 come with 10 and 11 licenses in a bundle too?

The Avid webpages on licensing, subscriptions and education all make no mention of this. The only thing that is made clear is that if you UPGRADE to Pro Tools 12, you get a license bundle that includes 10 and 11 as well.

So, it's not clear if NEW purchases of Pro Tools 12, or NEW subscriptions of Pro Tools 12 actually include the same licence bundles giving capability to run Pro Tools 10 and 11.

Can someone confirm please?

Not a confirmation, but it is my understanding that each and every PT12 license comes bundled with 10/11 as well

That's what I'd like to think too …. but you know Avid ;-)

And, actually, if you read all of the current Avid pages about Pro Tools 12, whether to buy, or upgrade ,or to subscribe, none of them actually confirm that you get a 10 and 11 license in the bundle as well.

Getting 10/11/12 in a bundle is only mentioned here …

in relation to surrendering your old licence when you upgrade. It's not about buying or subscribing 'new'.

I remember, for example, that people who upgraded from 9 to 10 got a 9/10 license bundle, but those who bought 10 new only got a 10 license.

Anyone from Avid able to confirm?

i made a thread about this, someone said people who did the subscription DO NOT get the 10 and 11 license, and ive checked, none of those appear on my ilok account, only 12. I think only perpetual license, i really want an Avid rep to clear this up. THe faq is very vague about which ones get it. How come im not see 10 and 11 in my downloads then?

Can anyone confirm .... if you BUY a new student educational licence of PT12, does it come with bundled 10 and 11 licences, same as the standard version?

Or is it a PT12 licence only?

There have been suggestions that if you subscribe, as opposed to buy, you also only get a licence for PT12, not a bundle for 10/11/12.

There is no clear information on this, if anyone from Avid can confirm one way or the other, that would be useful info indeed.

Downloads is another story, though. If you for some reason NEED older installer, you need to contact support.

Every Tom, Dick, and Harry should see same download versions which is why there is only latest ones.

Access to older installers is not a problem, I have them in my account.

I'm just interested in verifying for my friend's son, who is interested in buying Pro Tools new while he's a student, that he gets the licence bundle including 10/11/12.

JF ... are you 100% sure about this? You've had confirmation direct from Avid?

Out of curioisity, do you know for sure if it's the same for subscriptions? I've read in another thread that subscribers only get a PT12 licence, but again, I'd like to know for sure.

I have absolutely no idea about subscribers. Every permanent license that I know of has been 10/11/12 but then again, better wait for official word from Avid Support/Sales if that is a concern for you.

I'll triple check this and push to get the FAQ expanded, but they basically mimic the non-Academic versions... you get the bundle with perpetual (new and upgrades) and just the current license with subscription.
