I'm using external AMS RMX 16 & a TC M3000 reverb units.

I use amp farm in addition to live mic/pre amp gtr sounds.

Get an Aarsync II wordclock on your Protools rig, an equitec power conditioner in your studio, tune your room with an analyzer, and go to work. No one will know the difference except your wife and your wallet. Mixing in a big studio is a terrific experience, and if you feel like you need to go there for creativity well then go. Keep in mind Sheryl Crow's record was cut and probably partly mixed in a living room. Cheers!
