My point was one does not need six SM58.

The SM57/58 discussion is very old news to me.
The bonus for the 57 is positioning (as also mentioned by Shure.)
Two 58 and four 57 would seem a better mix, for instance.

Unless you are doing something like group on-stage live vocals.
Which is why I asked the question.

But the bigger thing is getting all the same mics really doesn't give much leeway to teach much of recording techniques. Unless there's a very good reason to do so.
