I stopped using it.

For me its much better to take the time to do a 'smart update'
with SuperDuper after a day's work.
That is for the System Disk.

Audio files always on separate drives,
and I backup manually.

I like Time Machine quite a bit .. one of the easiest to use
backup programs ever created. But .... I wish it had a backup
schedule feature. While you can set the backup interval and which
drives to back up, you can't create a schedule.

Just before I fire up Protools, I disable TimeMachine .. and when
I'm done, I turn it back on again.

We bought a Time Capsule backup box .. and it's been churning along
rather nicely.

I second SuperDuper!!!! it's the control freak in me to want to manually backup when I want. Plus Time Machine HAS to eat away at system resources, and in my opinion anything that eats system resources (and runs in the background) should be disabled... for instance the Dashboard.

Hi there, I am using Timemachine since a few days but it does not work with Protools for me.

If I copy my (Backup) Session Folder to int. Harddrive - I can not open the Session File. It says "Access Violation" or just nothing happens.

For shure I did unmount all the other ext. drives. Trashed Databases and so on.

Does Timemachine work for you? Can you open Backups?
Maybe I miss something

So I stick to manual backuping.
Cheers Tilman

Very interesting that this should be posted JUST as I was weighing the option of either using Time Machine or CCC. Yeah, I don't know that I want something running in the background backing up my system drive every 10 minutes...don't think I need it either.

With CCC do I have to clone to a dedicated drive or can I use one of my backup volumes?

I had a couple of errors that i thought might be due to Time Machine, so I increased my memory from 3GB to 5GB... no more problems-

I have it back-up to an external drive which is bootable- i can launch PT from the external, but I thus far haven't had do this- I have gone back "in time" a couple of times because I made changes and hit save when I didn't mean to....

I like the fact that time Machine runs in the back ground- Super Duper is great, but when it's doing a back-up that's essentially down time for me

I suppose it's a matter of preference
