Pro control monitor board upgrades....

Hey.
I know this is a dead horse, but....I emailed and faxed a list of my procontrol serial numbers into support(per their instructions). I was informed that I would recieve my monitor board upgrades soon. I have not recieved them yet. That was a long time ago. March 26th to be exact. Has this process taken this long for other users?

All were under 'warranty'. All 5. Still silly that is even considered an issue. The ProControl monitor section sounds horrid, and should be fixed. Digi offered a solution. I applaud that. But paying for it? crazy. If they were not under 'warranty', I would be sending them back. A control surface of that quality should not be having L-R image/level issues. If it does, a timely card replacememt/mod should happen. No big deal. No big deal to do in the field, either. But to say it is an 'upgrade' just kills me. On top of that....I still don't have my 'warranty upgrade'! If someone from Digi sees this, go ahead and send those upgrades to:

Response:
The analog board upgrade does not change the
"sound quality" or sonic characteristics of the analog section.
Analog Board upgrade: Clickless switching for Mute, Solo, Dim, and Alt Improved Crosstalk
Redesigned headphone amp circuit (more signal, less distortion).

You also said:

Response:
Addressed in March of this year, any boards or upgrades shipped since then meet the new spec. The new spec is +/- 1 dB between channels in the stereo pair, between 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. The old spec was +/- 3dB. We have screened pots available as Outbound Shipments ("part, ProControl Main Pot") from CS/TS.
If you have your monitoring system set so
that 9 o'clock is the bottom of the spectrum
then there will be no audible difference between L/R.

My PC is out of warranty. The clicking switches and rotten headphone amp are pretty brutal and obnoxious. I'm still trying to understand why the fix is an 'upgrade' and not a 'recall'.
I feel Digi should replace those monitor boards free of charge since they were defective to begin with. There are no real 'new' features, it just FIXES the original problem. I love the PC, but to have to pay to fix the defective switches on a 12k console is embarrassing.

Sad story for me too...

Anyway, I called Digi and after bouncing for almost 45 minutes between different people I gave all of my details to a gentleman who said he would have faxed to me some papers to fill in and sign and fax back which are necessary in order to receive the "upgrade"...

No fax received yet!!!

I would just like my monitor board "upgrades".
I have faxed my serial numbers to Jordan in tech support, and have not recieved any monitor board upgrades yet. That was 2 months ago.
On the other issues'...

What, clicking,poping and cross-talk are not sonic characteristics of a monitor section?


Damn right i am upset. I just want non clicking-poping monitor sections, and a monitor knob that gently fades the left side and the right side down at the same level.
That is an easy fix. It sounds like digi has come up with a solution, and has implemented that soulution. A new monitor section, and a screened monitor pot.
To be charged for it is an insult.

We paid for the upgrade in January. Got it in 3 weeks. Then...filled out the request for the new stereo "POT" online.....and recieved it in 4 days. Monitoring seems fine now. We are an AVID Authorized Education Center for Pro Tools....I don't think that had any impact on the timing though....

Upon further investigation, it appears that
of your (5) Procontrols, only (1) is a KH serial number having the old analog board.
The other (4) have NX serial numbers and are
current shipping hardware (new analog board,
connectors, main pot).
As per Jordan, viewing his call record,
he provided you with that information and was waiting for a return call with the payment information so he could process your order for the one Procontrol.
I provided you with information on the analog section and a link to the Procontrol product managers post on this very topic. It is detailed and explains Digidesigns view on this issue ( So please take a minute to check it out ) .I have attempted to call you at the phone number provided but only got voicemail. If you post a good time to call you then we can go from there.
