Default Composing in PT8

Im using a axiom25 with PT8. When I record midi data the first note always gets cut. How do I fix that?

Often when I'm recording midi, I notice the same thing. The truth is that I'm anticipating the beat and playing early. The note gets cut because the attack isn't within the "grid," ie, I'm playing slightly before the recording starts.

You can correct for this by setting the quantize on input. Or you can simply pencil in the notes you want. Or... you can start your recording one beat earlier. If that's a problem with previously recorded material, try using Midi Merge.

I don't know if that will help. I have a similare problem. Even if I insert a note clearly behind the first bar in a region with the pencil tool, and then quantize (standard quantize, not EA or realtime)the whole region, the first note moves slightly befor then first bar of the quantized region. This is so frustrating.

The workaround is to manually move the first note in each region on all midi/intrument tracks behind the first bar and remember not to quantize that region again, or else it will happen again. If I dont do this I also get problems with copy/paste.
