Digi - What bits are cut off on the LE systems that aren't on the TDM systems?

Ok so now I am totally confused about the whole bit depth thing with pro-tools. Acording to This digizine article the mix buss should have a minimum of 36 bits? So what bits are cut off on the LE system.

Then again to further confuse you. How is it that you can say that you have to have 36 bits then come back with This Answer Base Responce saying that we have better bit depth than the TDM systems? It's just the "itty" bits that are cut off. Itty bits are those caught bussing without a crosstown pass.
