Eleven Rack/003 set up problem?

Hi all,

I’m having a problem with recording through my Eleven rack into pro tools LE8.
I have loaded all updates for PT and firmware for 11R.
This is probably something simple, but sometimes simple things stump me : )
I have my guitar plugged into True z input and can hear it fine when I have headphones plugged into jack on 11R…sounds great.

Now I want to record into PT.

I open up a new session and select 11R for track input and Main outs for track output, record enable…but I get no signal, no meter reading.
Input on 11R is Guitar and also have Rig Input and Rig Output I believe it is??
Am I meant to have a spdif connection from back of 11R to back of 003 for this to work? Or is there a setting on the 11R hardware that I need to know about?

I was hoping someone could post a step by step guide on how to set up so I can record with 11R and PTLE8/003…I’m sure it’s something simple and believe I’m just missing something obvious here…

When you have another Digidesign/Avid interface hooked up to the same Computer "IT" will normally default to being the main interface for Pro Tools and the Eleven Rack become like any other piece of outboard gear, meaning that when another interface is connected, no longer does Audio flow through the USB cable of the 11R, only information that provides you with the Eleven Rack Window in Pro Tools. If only the 11R is hooked up then the Audio will flow through the USB cable of the 11R.

So as you can see, if you have a 003 hooked up, and it is set as your Pro Tools Engine, therefor Audio is not coming through the 11R USB cable, so you need a way to get the audio from the 11R to the 003. You could just use the main outs run in to the 003, but SPDIF would be best in this case.

Hold your edit/back button to go into the user menu. Scroll to volume control and select it. Make sure the 'main mute' icon isn't highlighted. I have had this happen before. Hope this helps

Benoni, well you touched on it...master/slave type thing. That's what it was, i just needed to set the playback engine in the 003 to 'Eleven Rack'...stoopid!! - There was a similiar thread RE: this prob as well, didn't spot it though till later...

Unless your doing this stuff on a constant basis, it sometimes slips your mind to check things like that, so thats all it was...I will know start to play around with it some more and see where I end up. Looking forward to getting stuck into the ol' 11R!
