need advice-stereo miking acoustic piano
Does anyone have advice on how best to mic a Kawai KG-3C grand piano with a single AT-822 stereo mic? I know it's very subjective, but I'd appreciate any tips.
thanks, Peter |

Re: need advice-stereo miking acoustic piano
I'm a huge fan of the Shure VP-88 stero mic on piano, and here's what I do.
About 8-12" behind the hammers, facing the player, 1/3 of the way between the strings and the inside of the lid. I vary the low/hi angle to get balance. Hope this is helpful. |
