Default over lapping audio files without creating a pause

hi, im trying to figure out how to keep my wave files that have tails on the same track but without causing a pause at the end.
for example: I record a basic 4 bar pad pattern, usually pads have tails that exceed the 4 bars. right now what i do is record a pad and create a 2nd track thats entitled "PADS 2" and just copy and paste it back and forth every 4th bar.
If i put the 4 bar pattern on 1 track you would hear a break or pause at the start of every 4th bar because the tail of the pad doesnt drag out.
is there a way to paste the patern on the same track over the tail end and not remove the audio? thanks

Using 2 tracks like you have been would be the way to go. You could try using one track with a crossfade between the regions, but it most likely won't give you the result you're looking for.

I've had this problem in the past too, and one way I've solved it by using one track is to record 12 bars (3 x the 4 bar phrase) and loop the middle 4. This way you retain a 4 bar section featuring the softer attack, a 4 bar section with the tail intact and a 4 bar section that has a natural crossover. You'll likely still need cross fades between your loop points.
