Default Speeding up video scrubbing play/stop

Hi

I am looking to increase performance of video playback in Protools for sound post. It plays fine but when I need to select a area where there is a hit or something where I need accuracy and smooth visual feed back during a scrub with cursor to pin point hit point the video is jumpy and inconsistent. Will upgrading my graphics card make a difference, I thought it was already pretty good. I have AMD radeon r9 200 series.

I would like to keep video playback in an applet on same monitors as the ones I use with protools like default. How can I achieve hi performance playback for things like scrubbing.

Is the video compressed? Maybe do a bounce to quicktime and uncheck - same as source - and pick a DNxHD format that matches your picture. The smaller file sizes may be down at the bottom of the list. This will take a bit of time and the file will be much larger than the original compressed one, but usually easier for PT to handle. You can then import the new picture into PT.
You could first try this with just a short bounce of a section, to see if it actually helps.

If your video is h264, this is exactly what will happen. It's all down to trying to un-compress the video at low speed. Your only solution for accuracy is to transcode the video to DNxHD or Prores.

ProRes Proxy works fine here and is pretty small and efficient .. or ProRes LT ..

Hi All

I am having great success with DNxHD. It really is chalk and cheese. Although this was already in my delivery policy I was having problems with the files I got from Premiere (DNxHD). However when re coding 264 to DNxHD in protools I am getting great results. I have had a few problems with the latest premiere when it comes to AAF, OMF and videos.

Thank you very much, this will help me out alot.
