Rewire hosts for VI's?
With all the complaints about RTAS VI's in Pro Tools,
I'm curious what people's experiences are hosting AU or VST instruments with Pro Tools via a Rewire host like Abelton Live or Plougue Bidule. Is the latency OK? How many instances can you get? Any other options besides these two? |

Re: Rewire hosts for VI's?
Bump.
Anybody routinely using virtual instruments in Pro Tools via a Rewire as a workaround? |

Re: Rewire hosts for VI's?
I use Plogue Bidule. It has a little learning curve, but is quite easy to master. Don't be scared off by the simple GUI and computer science vibe. I can run many VST and AU VI's within it, with far more processor efficiency and far fewer headaches than running the VIs in Pro Tools.
It hooks into Pro Tools via Rewire, and hosts syncs as well. It's sort of like having a huge Reason rack of all the VIs you couldn't use in Pro Tools, or couldn't depend on in Pro Tools. You can also run it on a separate machine as a host for processor intense VIs, or as a way of making a cpu farm of VIs. The best part-- it's $75. Enjoy. Plogue Bidule |
