Error with Protools 12.8.2

Hi i have just updated to Protools 12.8.2 and I keep getting this error message when I try to open it.
Could not complete your request because assertion in"/volumes/development/212377/protools/AAE/source/AAX/widget.cpp".line 822
I have had no previous problems and everything else is up to date so a little confused as to why this message is coming up.
Any help would be very much appreciated thanks.

Can you please try to re-install the software and try again? If the problem persists, contact Avid Support for help

hi thanks for your reply i have done another install and the problem is still happening. I am still using Elcapitain as was a little reluctant to upgrade to sierra yet due to compatibility issues with certain software. i am upto date with drivers etc.

ElCrapitan could well be your problem as evidenced in several threads here. Either go up to Sierra if you can or down to Yosemite if you can.

Those error messages usually go away after trashing preferences and databases.

Also when you trashed those launch PT with the N key held down and choose your interface when popup window appears.
