Default No USB Port Available in Reason with Keyboard

Hi there,

This has been a really frustrating issue. I am using Reason adapted with Pro Tools 7.1. I have a Digi 003 and an M-Audio keyboard
which is plugged into the computer via USB. In the 'preferences' dialog box in Reason I am unable to choose USB as a port to connect to my midi keyboard (USB is not an option). The ports available are only Digi ports. According to the Reason website, USB with PTs and Reason should work fine. The auto detect function is supposed to automatically find my keyboard but doesn't. This has worked for me in the past with reason 2.5 and my digi 001. Any ideas? Propellarhead will not help me.

Yes. This is normal (well, normal depending on your point of view) behavior on a windows machine.

Take a look at my tutorial on the subject.

Thanks a bunch.

Just to clarify. The' instrument output selector' you mention in section 4 is selected in Pro Tools? Or is this where you choose the midi output device in the reason sequencer? Is this just the standard output of the pro tools instrument track? Also, 'make sure midi input is set to all.' This is in Reason or in Pro Tools.
Thanks again.

The tutorial states quite clearly:
Quote:
On your Pro Tools Instrument track, in the Instrument section

That would also be on the Pro Tools instrument track.
