Default System crashes upon plugging in Mbox2

I just bought an Mbox2 with pro tools iginition pack yesterday. This morning I set out to install it and my computer has crashed at least 5 times already. Whenever the Mbox is hooked up via usb to the laptop, the computer runs very slow and just eventually crashes. The last time I plugged it in it crashed immediately.

By crash I mean it goes to a blue screen with white text. Ctrl-Alt-Dlt does not even work at this point. It says basically that the computer froze itself to avoid a serious error and if I ever see this page again to contact my support group. It also says, and I quote, "The problem seems to be caused by the following file: usbaudio.sys"

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1150. 2.6ghz intel celeron processor, 512mb ram, Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 1

I noticed that the pro-tools installer had a pop up to tell me that I need XP with SP2 so I'm going to try to get that and go from there. But if there's anything else that I'm missing here, perhaps pro tools won't work with my specific laptop or anything I'd love to know. Thanks much in advance to whoever helps me out!

Default Re: System crashes upon plugging in Mbox2

What version of Protools are you running. Since you just got the Mbox2, I'll assume you have 7.0 or 7.1. (Some Mbox2's still have something like PTLE 6.8.1 in the package). PTLE 7.0 and 7.1 requires Windows XL SP2 so that is also what I think your problem is. You might also look at updating your PACE drivers. (especially after you upgrade to Windows XP SP2).

Protools is also not recommended for Celeron based computers (no matter how fast the clock speed). Some have it working with minor limitations but Digidesign does not support it.
