Default Re: The best amp modeling plugin?

I was and still am very sceptical about amp sims,
especially in non-heavy genres.

That said, I can get usable results with STL Tonality.

Their offerings with expansion packs are a bit overwhelming, but if you need a good selection of classic amps I can recommend the Michael Britt pack.

After using Amplitube 3,4 and 5 Max i have to say for me that's the best sound for Studio use right now, for me. A very good tool for producing.

On the other hand, i tried some effect pedals - like Vox Stomplab or NUX MG 300 and as a Guitar Player i like the tactile feeling and the response much more than any plugin used the last 20 Years or so.

My secret weapon for very authentic sounds and feel has been - Eleven II. Unfortunately it isn't supported on newer Mac Systems (After High Sierra) anymore as Hardware. But using the Software Version is sometimes a good solution for quick notes.

I have Amplitube 3 and 4 and at one time I thought they were great. Then I started using the amp sims from Plugin Alliance and my ears got opened to a nice clear sound whether clean or high gain (especially high gain). Made the stuff in Amplitube sound muffled in comparison. I love the touch response I get when using any of the PA amps.

That being said there are a few gems in AT 3/4 and they are Fender Collection 1. Also thought the Mesa/Boogie collection was good until I got the Megaduel from PA.
