whow can i connect 2 or 3 computers toghether ? it is Possible ?
I have a Mac G5 With mac osx tiger , a PC 2.4 With XP and a Laptoop PC Centrino with Windows Vista
On a Mac i have the Protools HD And in the others i have cubase SX with plugins
i want to send the signal of the plugins to the Master computer G5 With Protools
The Question is:
Its possible connect the 2 or 3 computers with gigabyte ethernet ?
Does he work?
How i connect ?
can i connect one Mac with one or 2 PCs ? Those the protools accept the ethernet connections ?
If the connections are possible its audio is sending or only Midi information from the computers slave ?
What i want is use the other computers like a effects processors , and mix in the protools using some plugins in protools and using other plugins from the others computers.
its possible use more than 1 effect plugin in the slave computers ?

No this does not work. If you need more power with an HD system, add more process cards.

Hi Victor,

I do this all the time by using my HD3,Sync I/O and Cubase SX on a different computer... The way I do it is via MTC... I'm not sure if you have a Sync I/O in your setup...

Here's the steps on setting it up...

1. Connect a midi interface on your PC computer (M-Audio has a 1x1 interface that would work just fine for this....)
2. on the Back of the Sync I/O you have a Midi jack that is labeled MTC go out of that into the the "Input" of your midi interface of your PC...
3. On your Cubase computer make sure your audio outputs from your sound card are going into the PT system....
4. Open Cubase SX
5. Go to the Transport menu, then select sync setup
6. Under timecode source select MIDI Timecode... at this point you should have MIDI Timecode box available..
7. Select your Midi interface of the port you are planning to use for MTC under MTC input.
8. click ok at the bottom of the page.
9. now open your project on both PT and Cubase
10. In PT open the session setup, make sure the Sync I/O is your master clock
11. In PT open the transport window if you havent, on the far left of the transport you'll find a clock which is online. click on that and make it active.
12. In Cubase look at your transport under the temp box you'll see a sync button... enable it... it should say online....

now if you hit play in PT, cubase should follow....

If you have any questions let me know...

Victor, make sure you have plenty of RAM, use RTAS if necessary, and assign your computers % of performance to a minimum of 85%. Don't know if this will help. What kind of HD system do you have.

Last, make sure that no other applications are running when using PT.
