I just wanted to confirm the fix stated above worked for me on Win 10 x64 PT12.5. Nothing else worked until disabling all other audio devices.

After trying many times before, today I tried again to install Pro Tools First.
I followed the hints in this thread, disabled all soundcard inputs and outputs that I was not going to use, but still...nothing!
Pro Tools First says it doesn't find any audio hardware. (And then ends before showing me any further options...)
That's strange, because all other audio software on my PC works perfectly!
Pressing (or holding) the 'N' key doesn't have any effect.
For now I have deleted all Pro Tools First files and I hope there will be a GOOD solution for this problem that works.

Well since we have no info on your system we cant really help you much ..

Hi Guys,

I am having the same problem and I can't believe it hasn't been fixed by now!

I am running Pro Tools First on my HP laptop and it is connected to my audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett Solo). I know for a fact that the AI works fine because it works perfectly alongside other software.
I've tried holding down "N" to bypass the normal boot procedure and so far no luck.

I'm extremely disappointed that its got this far to be honest, I've been trying to fix this for over a month now!

Anyone able to help????

After a lot of problems I finally got it working.
(Removed all Windows sound devices and installed Asio4all first.)
The problem in my case was that the ASIO buffer size wasn't a multiple of 32.
(I think it was 528 or so. Other DAWs don't have a problem with that.)
So I got it working, but I removed Pro Tools First already because:

- You can't exchange projects with other Pro Tools users.
- You can't store projects locally, only 'in the cloud'.
- You can only record a limited number of audio sources at the same time.

So Pro Tools First is only suitable to 'get an impression of how Pro Tools works'.
Unfortunately, that is not good enough for me...
