Default PTLE v8 upgrade - does this included a Firmware Update for 003R

i'm planning on cloning my existing PTLE 7.4.2 and OSX 10.5.4 system to a new Internal Drive with Carbon Copy Cloner.

while keeping this as a bootable backup when upgrading main system drive to v8 - my concern is - will i encounter a firmware update for the 003R when upgrading to v8.. and will this adversely affect my ability to boot from backup drive to run 7.4.2 with 003R?

is this a potential problem?

thanks (in advance),
Hobson
