Default Upgrade 11 to 12, and co-install 10 or 11?

My current plan expires in Feb 2017. I downloaded 12 in Feb 2016, but have been using 11 (I never installed 12).

Related to all this, if I remember correctly, don't I have to uninstall v11 before installing 12? And I think you can run v10 and v12 side by side, but not v11 and v12.

And if so, do I have to reinstall all my plugins?

I apologize if these are dumb questions, but early concerns I was reading about v12 were what prevented me from installing it.

I recently added a MIDI controller and want to keep the transition as smooth as possible.

I only run one version but if I were you and you already have a version installed I would recommend you just do a co install of 12 and move off it as opposed to upgrading. Then import or open your sessions from your desired location. There is no one way, really a matter of what you need. A lot of studio guys may have multiple because they have clients who may come in with alternate version projects and they need to maintain compatibility with the clients home session version. At least so I believe. They could tell ya.

rename PT11 to PT 11.3.1 or something like that .. then PT12 install will not erase them and they will both work ..

Most common co-install is PT 10 (do that first) and PT 12. There's really no need to run 11 and 12 both....good and stable on PT 12.4HD/Win 10 here.

I have been putting off installing PT 12 for quite a while and will finally try and do this in the next week of so. There are a couple of plugins I'd like to use that are 12 only.

I'm currently running 11.3.0 and would prefer to leave that installed if I can, just in case. (one of the reasons I haven't installed 12 is that 11 has always worked very well for me).

Regarding this:

Thanks for the clarification.

I'm on Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

Edit: Just found this:

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...ll-Information

I guess this means in Windows I cannot have both 11 and 12 both installed, correct? I remember reading this a while ago.

I have everything backed up redundantly, but I really wish I didn't have to uninstall.

I will have to read up on that Trasher program; I think I need to use that.
