Default Clicking DSP = allocated

Just curious as to what the purpose for clicking in the system usage window onto a DSP chip's meter turns it red and labels it "allocated" is? Anyone have insight as to why this would be useful?

Hi,

If ever one chip becomes faulty or the ram fails on the chip you can use this ti disable the chip but carry on using the card.

Ive had to do this on 2 cards in the past.

Can also be used to force plugins onto certain chips/off of certain chips, can be useful sometimes with complicated sessions that get full and some plugins hog accel chips or chips with ram that they don't need to be on.

Hey Chris,

Thanks so much for the explanation. And to think after so many years of using an HD3, I never figured this out!

Seems like the HDX card does a marvelous job of DSP allocation, I will say. No more waiting around for sessions to open or add plugins. Doing the DSP shuffle is thankfully a thing of the past.
