Default Recomended External Firewire Drive Inquiry...

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can recomend any external Firewire drives to be used with an Mbox 2 Pro/Win XP/PT8 set up. I am looking to upgrade my audio drive and I cannot seem to find the link which had some qualified drives so I am reaching out to the people.

Also, are there any advantages to usuing an external Firewire drive as opposed to an internal Sata drive as the audio drive other than portability?

Thanks in advance.

Actually, performance wise, you'll do better with an extra internal sata drive. But the firewire drives work great, and you have portability.

Some popular ones include Glyph 050Q (expensive) and OWC Mercury Elite Pro Quad interface (macsales.com).

Got a firewire CASE at www.byteccstore.com with the required Oxford chipset, and stuck in a good 7200-rpm 500-gig IDE drive (finding IDE drives is tricky these days)
for a sum total of around $75.00

@sw rec

Out of Curiosity.. why did you go with an IDE drive instead of a SATA, is it just cuz of the case?
