Default Plug in chain Console question

Hope this is the right section. Anyways so I see these SSl or any otherconsole plug ins and I was curios if you have a gtr track you like with amp model software or maybe it was a EQ and a compressor and you like that over all sound. If you wanted to try to get the Console sound would that be ok to put that plug in after ? I am thinking of it as that is my source. Hope that makes sense.

having a good education in signal flow and analogue routing is a good thing.
however it's 2021 and why would we like to reproduce every old school technique ITB - do whatever you want and make unusual chains, be creative

Well what more does the track need? I mean if you have the track sounding as you like it, what more does the track need? As has been said many times, if it sounds good it is good.

That said, put it wherever you want. If you like it, cool. If not, try something else. Signal chains can make huge differences in the sound because of how they feed from one to the other.

Just my opinion.

Let me ask it like this. Say your the guitar player, you add what ever you add t make your sound. That would be your source correct. If you were going to a real board you would then input into the board. I want to see if this s the same process using console software.

That's a good way to go for using a console/channel strip plugin. Replacing that big clunky SSL 4000 heat generator with a channel strip ITB. For example if I'm using a softsynth I feed that into a channel strip emulation and processing is after that strip. Where it gets complicated is if I want to use an outboard compressor plugin before the strip's eq; that's when I go synth to compressor to strip. If I stayed with the strip's compressor I could just switch the order around inside the strip plugin.
