Default Time Compression/Expansion

Have a audio region that is slightly out of time with the drum tempo and was wondering if anyone knows how to use Time Compression/Expansion plug-in?

Your help is most appreicated.

Assuming that you mean(by "slightly out of time") that one track is slightly longer or shorter than the other...Are the drums recorded to the grid?(i.e. with a click track). If they are, then go to grid mode>select the TC[E tool and drag the end of the music to the proper gridline. If your drums are not aligned with the grid, then its going to be hit and miss. That might be good use for Beat Detective.

Thanks Albee for the reply. I'm finding the TC/E tool to be a little extreme for my liking, it's disfiguring the feel of the track, pace and sound wise, more so sound wise. I'll have a look at Beat Detective but not sure if this will work, for I understand that in order for Beat Detective to work to it's best it must be able to read peak transients and the track I'm working with has none really. I'll see what I can do.

Try out the demo of Pitch 'n Time.
It is a much better plug-in to my ear.

Yeah thanks JMS40 ...ummm ran into a bit of a problem with that demo, the authorization requires a ilok, something that I don't have.

There'll be a way around it, I mean ...the out of sync track.

No... I just recently used it without iLok.

JMS40

Ummm... this is the message I get when launching Pro Tools "This trail edition of Pitch 'n Time is no longer active." ...and can not be selected by Setup>Preferences>Processing>TC/E ...if that's how you do it, by using the TC/E tool.

I do remember using this plug-in about a year or two ago, but they have not asked for my details.

The stock time expansion/compression plug with Pro Tools is [bleep]. You need something better if you want to use it seriously.

I guess that means you've already used the demo on that computer, filosofem.
You don't use P'nT with the TC/E trimmer tool, though.
It's audiosuite only and menu driven.

That, my good friend, is incorrect. You can set Pro Tools to use PnT as the default TCE tool by selecting it on the TCE dropdown on the processing tab in preferences.
